Georgia, 2008: The Bulldogs are the gold standard for major conference tournament Cinderellas. Dennis Felton's team, at 4-12 in SEC play, was the sixth seed from the East Division and tied for the conference's worst league record. In the craziest SEC tournament ever, the Bulldogs upset Ole Miss in overtime, 97-95, on Day 1. A tornado struck on the night of Day 2, postponing Georgia's matchup with Kentucky at the Georgia Dome.
The dome suffered damage that made it unsafe for spectators, and the league elected to move the rest of the tournament to Alexander Memorial Coliseum, the place Georgia's rival, Georgia Tech, called home. The Bulldogs upset Kentucky in overtime Saturday morning and took the floor again Saturday night, upsetting Mississippi State, the West's top seed. Only players' families, media, school officials and 400 fans were allowed to attend games at Georgia Tech, and the Bulldogs won a third game at Alexander on Sunday afternoon, upsetting the West's No. 2 seed, Arkansas to win their third game in 30 hours. The committee slotted Georgia in as a No. 14 seed, where Xavier ended the Bulldogs' season in the first round with a 73-61 win.
