First, the pledge:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the University of Iowa, and to the tradition for which it stands, one program, under God, indivisible, with winning and competitiveness sometimes."
Look, we beat Sparty like 38-35 that one year and we beat Purdue last year. We were competitive against Northern Illinois. Either pledge your allegiance or get out.
Second, though our athletic programs are currently worse than or on par with Northwestern, I need to remind you we will always have the glory days to think back on. Some Cat fans I work with were hyping up Baylor coming to Welsh-Ryan this weekend and they said "If we beat Baylor this weekend, we'll probably make the tournament." That, gentlemen, is futility.
Third, at this time next year, I promise you will all be saying:
WE'RE BACK!!!!!
