Garza / Nunge - Are we back yet?

Let's see what these guys can do at the collegient level before we get to excited. Still waiting for that top point guard recruit who can really bring it. I am just a little skeptical about that position on the floor. Maybe Moss will be outstanding. I think that MAY be the only piece missing.

We have a great mix of player coming in, I am old enough to remember 1970 and 1980 and how the mix gave us the best options we had ever had. Its time again. I see great things over the next 5 years. Crazy good.

I agree, that 1980 team was a unique team of average players with an outstanding point guard and of course a very talented head couch who got the most out of his players........LUTE, LUTE, LUTE. Man would the Fieldhouse ROCK back then. I hope you are right that we are about to enter a time period where our program becomes crazy good. We are pretty good now but crazy good is the next level.

I completely agree with this. I am about as optimistic of a fan as you can find, but until we can bring in a big time point guard (Yes, Gesell was this) who doesn't have any ties to the state, then I will say we are back. Garza and Nunge I think could be two great players for us but will need some development time. It will be interesting to see if we take a step back this year with the young nucleus that we have. If we don't take much of a step back, we could be looking towards a very interesting 3 to 4 years.

Define "back". If you mean Mr. Davis years, then we've had 2nd round NCAA losses the last 2 years just like we got used to in the 1990's.

We back.

I just hope nobody thinks these two guys will be studs right away. They seem to both need time to develop. I bet it'll be their JR yrs till they are significantly contributing. Which isn't a bad thing by any means. Most players do. Cook however looks like he's plug and play ready though. If he's as good as advertised he may not stick around too long.

You really never know how a player will develop until they get on the court. Who would have expected White to contribute on day one. Jok took a year to get his health back, and to catch up to the speed of the game. 6 months ago, most everyone would assume Pemsl, Kriener, Dailey and Bohannon were develpmental players. I think 1-3 of them will surprise us this year. But we expected that from the recruiting class last year and only Wagner contributed on a regular basis.
