I felt awful watching this guy blow up on the last hole. It's easy to look back and say what you should have done, but I don't know how or why he chose to play that dangerous third shot when all he had to do was make double bogey...just hit the ball away from the trouble, stick it on the green and two putt for the win. I was pulling for him so hard to win the playoff; it was unfortunate that his ball ended up in the one position where he had no shot at the green.

I personally feel like the caddy is nothing but a walking talking yardage book 99.9% of the time, but this is one of those 0.01% times where the caddy absolutely has to be the one thinking with his head, as it is common for a competitor to think with their heart and caught up in the moment. Even if a player doesnt believe in looking at the scoreboard the caddy needs to know what the situation is at all times and step in IF needed. All the guy had to do was make double. He hits his tee shot in the lake, big deal, know the situation slow things down and make the player think the strategy through, dont let them hastily make an aggressive decision. Was his caddy the same as Jean Vandeveldes?

Garrigus's caddy lost about 50 to 70K on that choice today. No doubt he should have advised his golfer. Like the one announcer said I would have handed him the sand wedge and walked away.
