Garret Jansen flips from Cincinnati to Iowa

Now recruiting worse than Iowa State, Wake Forest, Temple, Duke, Rutgers, Kansas and Western F'n Michigan. What is it gonna take to send this God awful staff packing?!!!

6-6 or worse will probably do it...

Do you think that will do it? I have a sinking feeling that won't be enough. I think anything less than 8 or 9 wins SHOULD warrant his removal but doubt that would happen. There are just so many things wrong right now with Iowa football under KF. Add to that one of the most loyal fanbases is wavering. I think next year's attendance will show how upset the fan base really is.

He should be shown the door now, well should have already, but after this pathetic recruiting effort he should definitely be gone. Half the class are kids from Iowa, just awful. The seat is hot, and this is the recruiting masterpiece KF and staff come up with?

Welcome to the team Garret, you made a good decision to become a Hawkeye. I like the defensive line recruits this year. This makes 4 defensive linemen, with 3 being in state. They all have good Iowa sounding names too, Slater, Jenson, Nelson! I remember previous players with those names that made big impacts too.It is also good to see that they are keeping the good recruits from leaving the state. That is what builds the foundation for Iowa recruiting.

Just a little observation coming from a fan for life regardless. I have noticed that UNI has really played Iowa tough. This is the same UNI teams that are mostly filled with Iowa kids that never got a scholarship from Iowa or the clowns. They usually are talented kids that we missed and want to stick it to the hawks. This proves that not all of these boys are bad players to have on a D-1 program. especially Iowa's. Ask D.Johnson. Ask the Allen boy from Waukee who will be a good back for them. Making Iowa wish that we should have offered him. So I say give this Jensen kid, Wilson who just committed and the Jewells and Bowers of college football a chance to prove themselves. I bet a good chunk of viewers on this board never thought Dallas Clark, Derick Pagel, Sean Considine Matt Bowen or any 3rd tier scrub would mount up to hill of beans. Just let things unfold.

Thumb down

Yeah we should give any kid willing to play at Iowa a chance because who knows he could be the next Dallas Clark.

Sure there are going to be a few "good stories" here and there, which KF sure seems to love, but you can't build a winning team with as many "diamonds" that were pulling in every year. Hayden Fry didn't do it, and NO ONE else is doing it that is successful. KF's self defeating recruiting strategies is killing this program. Whether anyone wants to believe it or not we're on frickin life support and KF still continues the status quo. He needs to be removed from Iowa football for good before the program completely bottoms out and we hit Iowa State or pre-Fry levels. Iowa doesn't have time to give the Bowers or Jewells 3+ years to become serviceable.

The reason UNI (and ISU...along with every other team that shouldn't) plays us tough is because kfootball wants to play a clock management game. kfootball is unwilling to even consider "trying" to put a team away in the 1st or 2nd quarter. kfootball wants to play it out over all 4 quarters and these lesser teams know that all they have to do is weather Iowa jumping out to a 2 score lead because kfootball will then stop trying to score and just manage the clock. That doesn't mean the other teams are more talented than Iowa (though that gap is closing and that, in itself, is a crime).

Another waste of a scholarship by this staff. He was committed to Cincinnati, but was notified by the Cincinnati staff that they were going to do a grayshirt offer. A scholarship offer to UNI. Come on!!!! I'm not very happy with how this recruiting class is going to finish by signing day.

We need better recruiting because this isn't acceptable!!!

I agree with what your saying. He needs to step it up big time, but I hope he gets booted before that happens. I am just saying that we can't knock completely the Jansens of the recruiting world. I definitely love to get the 3,4,5 star players.

7 of our current 20 verbal commits are 2 star kids. That is 35%, folks. It will be 2017 or 2018 before these kids "should" play.

We are to the point where we are stealing last minute fallback recruits from UNI. But it's OK, because Dallas Clark.

JFC...just put this joke of a staff out of their misery already.

You sound like the losers on the Clown board. UNI should not be our standard and competing with them should not be our goal. Your argument that we should model our football program after them is one of the dumbest things that I have ever read.

I don't remember seeing this much hate over an in-state high school commit before.
It's hate for the staff, not the player. This is what Iowa football has become, and will continue to be until Capt. Clueless finally rides off into the sunset.

Good recruits from leaving the state? Umm.. Where else would they play? Foundation for Iowa recruiting? My God, come back to reality. You think the state of Iowa is the foundation for Iowa recruiting? Well actually, that's the problem. We have too many Iowa kids in this class. The top rated recruits do leave the state, we get the ones with MAC offers, or no offers at all. Revisit this post in 3 years when these highly coveted building blocks for Iowa recruiting need to be making an impact on the field. It's going to be brutal to watch.
