I just realized that most of my recent posts have been either in the POY thread (bring back the Prole Awards!!!!) or arguing with HawkMN about Minnesota being a bubble team (WTF?????). Game day could not come soon enough.

Indiana has been a weird team to try and figure out. They were one of the nations leading scoring teams until 4 games into the conference season and then the lights got shut off, they have not scored above 66 points since they played MSU on January 21st. On their home court they have knocked off Wisconsin and Michigan but turn around and lose to Northwestern and Penn State. If Iowa can slow down Yogi Ferrell and score 70+ points I think they win this game.

Give me your predictions.

I predict a good night of drinking! Gonna watch BB all night at the bar with buddies, first up ISU vs Texas, and then Iowa vs Indiana.

Iowa wins by 7, 79-72

Honestly traditionally we have played pretty well at Bloomington. This Indiana team is somewhat backed-up in a corner. I expect them to come out and really play with some hustle, and grit. However, they simply, outside of Yogi, are not clicking right now. IF Iowa can weather that original storm and not shoot less then 35% from the 3 pt. line we win easily 10-15 points. If we struggle from the perimeter it will be a dog fight. I look for Mike to have a big game, all 3 bigs to have good games. I say Iowa 80 Indiana 65

Yeah, you and I both got sucked into that Minny vortex. Must be the weather.

Today is the day. Today is the day that Iowa wins a close one that they have no business winning. We'll be down in the final minute and win it with a Jarrod Uthoff tip-in as time expires. James Moses style, y'all.

72-71.

With the BIG10 title within reach I feel this team is about to go on a tear. Hawks 86, Hoosiers 71! White goes for 23 points, 17 in the first half to spark us!

Indiana is coached by Tom Crean....the modern day equivalent of George Raveling aka, he can recruit with the best of them but he can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag - sorry coach Raveling....

IU has been playing poor ball lately and is on a three game losing streak to mid (low) tier teams. This will be their 3rd game in 6 days and they are not deep. The loss of Mosquera-Perea didn't help them in that area either.

I would fully anticipate IU to come out strong and take an early lead, possibly even double digits within the first 15 minutes of the game. They will fizzle early in the 2nd half and we should be able to pull away late. This will be a great test for our mental toughness as IU has some talent, just not a good team.

Prediction: Iowa 71 - IU 63

Iowa 72 IU 66

Like ssckelley said... there haven't been any high scoring games in Assembly Hall this year. Iowa is the highest scoring team in the Big 10, but they've had plenty of games where they struggle as well. I don't see the Hawks lighting it up in this one, but I do see them controlling most of the game.

I'm not gonna make any wild predictions as far as players go because I hope we don't need any. If Marble, Gesell, and White can all find a way to make an offensive impact, and the Olaseni/Woodbury combo can continue their recent level of intensity then I think that will be more than enough for Iowa to pull out of the W.

I think this game is going to be pretty similar to the Illinois game. Indiana, similar to Illinois at the time we played them, has lost a few in a row and they need a home win to stop the bleeding. Indiana, similar to Illinois, has shown the propensity to beat good teams. And Indiana, similar to Illinois, has good, athletic guard play that tends to give Iowa fits.

I don't think we start the game quite as well as we did against Illinois, but I see us getting up early and probably leading at the half by 4-6 points. I think Indiana will make a run and take a brief lead...no more than 4-5 points. But I think in the last 8 minutes, our depth and ability to get out and run ultimately wears out Indiana (this is their 3rd game in 6 days and they are not deep at all) and we take it by 7 points.

Good Guys - 78
Bad Guys - 71

PS - I'm setting the over/under at the number of times Crean is at least 2 feet out of the coaches box during the game at 13.

Indiana is a mentally fragile team right now. I'm actually hoping they come out and try to play desperately. Fragile teams that do that seem to go into the game with a level of doubt in their young minds. If Iowa can hit them with a few haymakers early, I can see them curling up. The young guys will look to Yogi to do something spectacular. Hawks just need to play their game. With all that said, I'm nervous as hell!

I agree lets stop talking about MN and their fleeting tourney hopes. I don't think anyone in here could care less what happens to the Goofballs.

Hawks by 5 tonight. Cannot do a bed pooping like the OSU game though.

Indiana has beaten 2 good teams at home already and will be more than ready to take down a 3rd....

Iowa sneaks by

72-71
