GA RB Tyler Goodson Discusses Top 8, Upcoming Visits

The most impressive highlight in his video to me was that 45 yard bomb he threw...heck of a pass

Since he's a running back it probably doesn't matter as much, but it looks like they primarily run shotgun and pistol formations. Not sure if that's a concern for him with Iowa or not?

Could care less if he's a 3 star or whatever he is. He'd be a perfect fit. That's the exact type of RB that'd be a perfect compliment for our offense. He's already as big as Wadley and it took him 4 yrs to get to that size. Put about 10 more LBs of muscle on this kid and the sky is the limit. Versatile do it all backs that can lineup anywhere and go in motion and be used in any number of different ways is something this offense (any offense) can really use. I hope the full court press is on him. Show him the tapes of the games Wadley had against Michigan, ISU, PSU, NU and OSU. All of those games he made a number of big plays in both rushing and receiving.

Would be nice to get both Goodson and Brock but I don't see that happening. I would think things cool a bit with Brock & Iowa IF Goodson choses the Hawkeyes. Will be interesting to see how it plays out with Brock taking his last visit to IA soon and Goodson announcing early July.

I count at least 7 RB’s with 3 or more years of eligibility left if we add only one of the above candidates. Would seem like more than a stable full.

I posted previously that I personally like Goodson's upside over Brock. I'd love it if he chose us, and, from what I see, we at least have a reasonable chance with him. He was very high on W.V. early on, but, the fact that he hasn't taken a lot of visits since he was here (I believe we were his only official IIRC), looks promising. 247's crystal balls at the end of this month probably will tell the tale here.

I'd give us at least a 50% chance. If we do get him, the trick will be keeping him. I always worry about recruits from the SE sticking around. That's one advantage with Brock - I think he would be in it for the long haul.

Either would be fine with me. Both would be awesome.

OK. My mistake. My sources now say IOWA!

Steve Wilfong just made a crystal ball pick of Goodson to Iowa yesterday.

These are the crystal balls you can believe in more. Goodson tweeted a date he was gonna announce. He has probably told all the teams who he is picking and guys like Wolfong and Iowa insiders are getting word.

I feel pretty good about getting him. He's similarly built to Wadley and how his game is as versatile like his. He had to love how we showed how we could use him the last couple yrs. The good thing about Goodson is he won't have the weight issues as Wadley was even more slender and struggled to get to 185-190ish even late in his career. Goodson already being about that should have no problem maintaining it or even putting on a few more assuming that's accurate.

I might be on an island here but between him and Brock I think I'd almost rather have Goodson if we are to get only one of them (rather have both) Having gotten Sargent or 3 years I just think Goodson brings a different style and Brocks could be gotten by without. This kids vision/stop start make you miss ability is uncoachable. He has such a similar style to Wadley it's freaky. He just doesn't do Wadleys high leg hesitation move in the open field. But he can sure cut and spin and setup blockers. I wouldn't complain one bit if we were to get both he and Brock because if we do we are pretty darn set going forward at that position. But even getting one of them puts us in a good spot.

Not gonna pretend I didn't want Brock, but I agree that Goodson is quite possibly the better get. While Brock showed a good all-around skillset, imo it doesn't seem like he is fantastic at any one aspect of his game (besides maybe having great balance). Goodson pops off the screen in that he is a big play waiting to happen any time he touches the ball. The Wadley comparisons feel spot on, and I feel like his top end speed might be even better.

I feel like he'd be even better if we went and got a bigger back to run alongside him, like Daniels complemented Wadley, but the fact that we told Brock we're full makes me think we're done with RB in this class if we do indeed land Goodson.

I agree completely that Goodson has the high ceiling. I also worry that Iowa may have a harder time holding on to Goodson’s comittment should he blow up in the fall or some of the local SEC teams strike out on bigger fish. Brock is closer to home and would be more likely to stick w the Hawks. I’m still not convinced Iowa stepped back from him. He may have just seen a more full stable than he expected.
