Fullback and True Frosh ?

I was not able to see any of the game yesterday, and was only able to listen until the rain delay.
For those of you who were able to watch tape I have a couple of questions:

First, how did our fullback play look yesterday? It is a huge part of our running game and I have felt coming into the year that we are thin and inexperienced at fullback. Thoughts?

Second, Ive heard/read that several true freshmen (Bullock,Law,Hamilton,McCall) all played yesterday. I am probably missing some .....did Alston play? would like to hear your thoughts on which frosh played, what role (off, def,st) and if they look like they will contribute this year going forward. Thoughts?

Barring improvement from the players we have available at this time, we better hope that Rogers can be back sooner rather than later.

Really tm? I thought the holes were just fine. I think they had some very fast LB's and closed it up fast, but 5 yards at a time should have been nothing, heck McCall's avg was 6.8. He did have a long one for 22 and he carried 9 times. So I think the blocking up front was very good. It would be nice to have a FB with some ball skills, but I think everyone was getting their block.
I always liked your info and thought you had a pretty good grasp of whats going on, so to hear you say that kinda bothers me.

Part of that was the offensive line dominating the LOS. However, I was looking at the position from more of an attack perspective. Rogers is a very capable blocker, and he brings a lot of versatility to the position, the likes of which we've not seen for awhile. A fullback like him is a pretty nice weapon to have. The dropped passes didn't give me a lot of confidence in that department.

But like I said (or at least tried to imply), if Meyers improves, then no worries. But if what we see is what we get, Rogers is a very useful cog that's missing.

Nico Law #21 (?) Im pretty sure that was him. Didnt seem like he made any hits/tackles but always was around the ball. I take that as he was a little tentative (being his first game) but a good sign that he is a ball hawk.

I see. I agree I did not like the dropped passes either. Weather? The game was hard to watch due to the weather, but from what I saw there was very little to clean up back there. I did see Vandy get bumped into, but overall it looked pretty darn sharp for first game. Infact given the weather I thought alot of it looked pretty good. I thought Hyde did a excellent job running things back on that side. Got the edge pretty good. I am a bit worried if we end up playing Wisky, but it's way to early to know if those parts are working good yet or not. We will have to wait awhile to make judgement on that.

Guys barring a miracle Rogers will never play football again.

Remember that point last year when all sane people stopped thinkin Wegher might return? We have reached that point w Rogers.

Law was caught red handed in a blitz situation on TT's touchdown. He crashed down off the edge and showed his youth as the RB ran right by him. He'll be fine, but it was an aw sh** moment on the broadcast.

Bullock was in the game late in the 4th and lining up as a wide out. Didn't see that mentioned anywhere else. He and DeAndre Johnson were in the game at the same time and I believe Bullock was lining up in the slot.

McCall looked so good early on. His pad level left a bit to be desired but the power and speed to the hole were obviously quite good.

Agreed, except for entirely different reasons.
