I wonder if there is any other sports media person in the country even comparable to Mr. Brooks.

Considering a few years ago the state of Iowa had him AND Zabel, I am willing to bet guys like him are actually out there at more than a handful of schools. Kansas has one, or did, in Max Falkenstein. He did games and then hung around for over 50 years, just like Zabel and Brooks. The fact that I knew one other off the top of my head besides Z is what makes me think there are a lot of these guys out there, actually.
