Friedman Commits to UNI

average players dont get D1 offers. They turn into message board losers who make unedicated, judgental, and disparaging comments about the abilities of hs kids.

Ehhh, I'd say he's pretty average.
Ted Friedman - Yahoo! Sports

Now yes, he's a really nice HS player from central Iowa and he'd beat me in a game of one-on-one it that's what you're saying. But that goes without saying.

In terms of D1 basketball recruiting, talking about programs that are trying to build talented rosters and become elite teams, he is a very average prospect. In my opinion, a good miss for Iowa and ISU. And as previously pointed out, a great fit for UNI in the Valley.

Is this Friedman kid your son or what? There weren't any big schools after him. I don't think I heard any buzz about the kid what so ever. So calling a kid average who is going to UNI isn't even close to being worthy of your rant. Whats wrong with calling a kid average anyway. It's not like he said he sucked and would never amount to anything. He just won't be one and done at KY or have a standout 4 years like even dare I say a Matt Gatens. Oh and just to throw this out there but if your going to call out someone for being "unedicated" at least spell it right

He just can't spell at all. Desperately needs autocorrect.

autocorrect sucks. average players dont get d1 rides period.

It does, but since you don't use spell check I don't know what else to say.

Also, he might be average in regards to other D1 talent, but not overall. I think this is an issue of semantics.

So does that mean Duffman is an above average speller then? I suppose that means coach Licks kid was an above average player? Come on seriously this kid we are talking about averaged 10 pts and 6 boards in HS. Do you know how many kids in this country between 6'6 and 6'10 in HS put up those numbers? Sorry if our defining of the word average is different than yours. But we sure aren't wrong.

Actually they do. My older cousin got a D1 s'ship because he was good friends with a 7' on the HS team. He gladly accepted and rode the bench for 4 years and got his degree. Granted that was before the current s'ship limit, but it still happened.

In Ted's case, average is an accurate depiction. If you've watched Ankeny play he doesn't really stand out, which is obvious by his scoring average despite being 6'9". Ankeny had some brothers that were much better players, but they weren't 6'9".

That being said, we should all be so lucky to be average enough to get a full ride to play a sport.

anyone who says a kid who gets a scholarship to play a college sport of any kind is 'average', is probably below average in intelligence, at best.

Again. your defining average differently. He's an average player in HS and will be an average player in college. Is he better then me? Is he better then my little brother? Is he better then my cousins? Yes so is he an above average player in the country as a human being? Um ok. But as far as him standing out in the world of HS and college basketball. He's not turning any heads and I doubt he will. What blows my mind is these people are arguing just to argue. Soo you've never watched a game on tv college or pro any sport and said that player stinks or that player is average or that player is a superstar? Come on use common sense.

This make little to no sense.

Have you not kept up with the running convo? There are a couple people on here that seem to think any player that's ever received a D1 scholly offer is at least above average. I beg to differ with that logic and that was my response to it.

Average players don't get D1 scholarships for the most part. There are very few scholarships in relations to players. I don't think they qualify as "average".
