French to Oregon

Yeah...really sucks. It would have been a nice pickup for us. Whatev though, good luck to him at Oregon. Hope he reps Iowa well.
 
Seems like kids from the Cedar Rapids area rarely come play for Iowa. Can't say I'm too surprised by this announcement.
 
Why the need for a press conference anyway? Just commit to the coach/college and go on with your business, no need for grandstanding at that age.

Yeah I have to agree. I have never really understood the point/reason for it.
 
HawkeyeRyno was lambasted for saying French to Oregon was all but done. Where are these posters at now?
 
Here's a good conversation starter in 5 years or so...

"hey, what was the name of that backup wide receiver at Kennedy who got recruited like he was the second coming of Jerry Rice?"

"I forgot about that... whatever happened to that kid?"

It is a high-schooler. How often do they get a chance to make a big splash like that. If they weren't good enough to warrant it, then no one would be there.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy allows ALL of their athletes to do a signing/committing party in the library. No matter if the kid is going to play basketball at Upper Iowa or volleyball at Drake, the kids are allowed their moment in the sun to announce their choices. Granted French's announcement had all of the local news stations there, but Kennedy does a nice job of allowing all of their seniors to publically announce their decisions.

Considering he came to that conclusion based on nothing more than his "gut" feeling (which is almost always negative), he earned a lambasting. If he had actual reasons for believing that (ie- someone close to French said so, etc.), that would have been different.
 
I know everyone on this site hates Oregon and the style that they play football. I on the other hand Love Oregon, not as much as I love the Hawkeyes though... I am a little disappointed that he didn't choose Iowa but at the same time I am happy that he picked my second favorite team. Better a pac10 team then those ****** in the SEC!! I wish him the best of luck and I hope he proves all you haters wrong!
