Won't be going anywhere and shouldn't be going anywhere. Posts that it's time for yet another coaching change would be silly if they weren't so stupid, emotion-driven, reactionary and unreasoned.

Fran had a huge challenge ahead of him when he took the Iowa job and still does, although he has managed to make progress and appears to be laying the foundation for a solid program for years to come.

There will be more outings like Creighton and Campbell this season and even next, and continued frustrations. But I expect there will also be more of last year's season-ending thrilling upset of Purdue, and more and more excitement to offset the disappointments.

Get a grip folks. Fran, his staff and the players deserve your support.

They have our support. Just put a team on the floor that doesn't get embarrassed by Creighton and Campbell. That is what we deserve.

Can't blame Fran, he's not out there missing layups.

I think Fran would beg to differ. Why are they missing layups? Lack of focus and intensity? It isn't just that they lost it is how they lost. That is why Fran spent 45 minutes in the locker room with them after the game. If some players aren't giving what they need to then they need to sit next to him for awhile until they do.

Hes the one that cant/wont/refuses to motivate basabe.....basabe being passive is killing iowa. And no rebounding....rebounding is about desire.

As for now, it's an instance of one unmotivated player. You can't force a guy to be motivated no matter how much you want too. He is an adult and ultimately makes his own choices. If there becomes a problem of multiple players who have motivation issues than you can start considering blame of the coach but until then it's an isolated incident that's solely on Basabe.

"So it's incumbent upon me and my staff to get it out of him. Because we are not getting it out of he or Melsahn right now, and it's my responsibility, it's our responsibility to get the best out of players and get them to play up to capability, and we are not doing that."

He's talking about Cartwright too. I fully believe they will get it going but if they don't they should sit.

Given the bare cupboard Fran inherited he should have 4 years before we really judge him, give him a chance to bring one of his recruiting classes through.

In 2013-2014 if we are losing at home to Campbell or down by 30 to Creighton THEN it will be fair to talk about coaching changes.

Even Lickliter would have deserved 4 years if not for the yearly exodus of top players which were ultimately the reason his teams failed to compete and got worse rather than improving.

I agree that Lick's departures were a key reason to why he failed so badly here. However, he is also the reason for most of the departures. That said, Fran definitely deserves a couple more years, but his team shouldn't be playing like they did the last two games. I think most can handle losing the games, it's just how the team played during the two games that disgusts most.
