Fran needs to run out a new starting 5.

Anything that drastically limits the minutes for Woodbury, Clemmons, Gesell, and Oglesby is fine by me.

Of course if would never happen but yelling at them hasn't worked, patting them on the butt hasn't worked. Why not? Take away what they love until you get the requested result.

Dickerson
Ellingson
Jok
Uhl
Olesani
Let them play the entire 1st half. Send a message to the upperclassmen.

HAHAHA...It ain't the starting 5 that is the problem. It is the head coach and his recruiting that is the problem. When you brought in all the players on your team, and UNI is still 10x more talented that you, it ain't the players fault. It is the head coaches fault for not knowing what real talent it.

You are presuming they can give you more. I don't think we've seen evidence tha t hese players are any better than what they are showing.

I don't think the point is that those other guys are better...but that the upperclassmen that are starting are expected to provide some sort of veteran leadership, toughness and perseverance...and they are showing none of those things. I'd argue that the guys the OP listed would have done no worse than a 12 point loss to UNI if they'd have played the majority of the game. And it would have been more enjoyable because we could have at least watched a team with some fight...

Exactly. Send them out and tell them that they can keep the majority of the minutes if they play like they want to keep them. Let the existing starters sit on the bench and stew about it. Losing by 12 or losing by 30 makes no difference. But as noted, it would at least provide some entertainment.

I would start the backups. Tell the former starters if they want playing time, they will need to earn it.

Exactly and that's what is so frustrating.

Last year it felt like we were close and maybe a change to the distribution of minutes or a lineup might help.

This year it's just apparent the talent isn't on the roster so sure we can plead for more minutes or change the starting lineup but I don't think there is much we can do.

And the lack of talent falls on Fran.

Which makes next years recruiting class even more important. We need immediate impact guys. At least 1 that's ready to start day 1 on campus at the guard spot.
