I think this team has potential as well, and will be better than most think. It seems there is plenty of talent to move the ball very well around the court, which is perfect for transition basketall. Also, there will be the defense learned from the previous regime. Our defensive skillset will be a little higher than your typical transition based team, IMO.
That, and it seems that a few of our players are better apt to the uptempo game. Such as, Gatens, May and Brommer. With Brommer being the player that I believe has the biggest chance at improvement on the entire team.
Starting 5 to begin the season:
May - SF
Cole - PF
Gatens - G/F
Payne - PG
???
We need Basabe, Archie, Brommer or McCabe to step up. I say go with the best defender out of this group.
There is an issue that will overshadow this team, and that problem is the Big Ten is at it's peak of late. We could be vastly superior to last years team, and I believe we will, but not show that huge improvement in the W-L columns...
