Former Hawks at Texas Tech

Can you imagine the outrage around here if Willies were actually any good? Or if Texas Tech was even close to being 1/2 the team Iowa is?

Let it play out a little bit. Yeah, it worked out that Iowa was better off moving on from DW. That being said, he can still put up monster numbers in that system and be a high round NFL draft pick.

124 passes....3 receptions, 100 yards, 1 td....7th leading receiver....

It's early...but those aren't indicators of the magnificence some feared we had lost out on. Hellofa box jump though.

What do we need to "let play out". Dude is in his 4th year of college football, he plays for the most pass happy team on the planet, and he isn't anything but an afterthought for that team. Riley McCarron will have more receptions this year than Willies will.

I'll take a little wager about whether he'll be a 'high' round draft pick! Yes, receivers at Texas Tech can put up some numbers because of the 'system', but show me all the high draft picks they've had in the NFL and ALL the successful WR's they've had, lol.........You really think he's better than Crabtree, who was like the ONLY WR they had 'drafted'? Do you like ever 'sensor' yourself or do ANY research before you post? And this isn't a 'personal' attack, like I receive from you folks, just the 'truth'................And don't bring up Wes Welker, because he wan't even drafted..........

You're being a dick

You're being a dick

More importantly though he is right.

The love affair with Willies was so over the top it was sickening. He never once proved on the field he was better than Powell, Hillyer, or Vandeberg.....and he was clearly way inferior to KMM and T. Smith. Still posters wanted a starting spot and featured roll handed to him without earning it.

Someone makes a 'ridiculous' statement and I'm being a 'dick' for pointing it out??? I'm getting off these 'message boards' because the people that 'frequent' them are in their own little world. They think they are the 'majority' off fans, but they are just a VERY SMALL percent of 'fans'......There are over a 100,000 (maybe 200,000 or more?) Hawkeye fans nation wide, but the 40 or 50 that 'live' to post their 'opinions' on these message boards ALWAYS think they are the 'norm' and the majority....anonymous message boards and all their vitriol, are going by the wayside in a hurry...and Ithink they will for 'fan's also....this explains 'part' of the problem (and I see it here all the time)...http://www.newyorker.com/tech/elements/the-psychology-of-online-comments

More importantly tho huh? Not how I was raised.

These fan 'sites' wouldn't exist if not for the 'hits' they get from their anonymous posters, so they will probably be the last to throw in the towel....And for you who think I am just like this on HN, I talk the same way on FB to my 1037 'friends' as I do here using my real name....Most understand when I'm being 'dramatic' and understand sarcasm.....http://digiday.com/publishers/comments-sections/

What on earth would you research before you said Derrick Willis could be a high draft pick? Does the lack of past high draft picks prove he won't be one? It sure didn't prove Crabtree wouldn't be one. There is nothing "right" about your post other than saying Tech hasn't had many high draft picks. Everything else was garbage just like always. That's why people can't stand you. You took an innocent post and ridiculed it. What a joke of a human you are.

Yeah I agree PC. You can be right without being a dick.

Icke there's nothing wrong with sharing your opinion. It's the manner in which you choose to share it that people don't appreciate. If that makes you want to leave the boards then so be it, but don't blame it on other people unless you want to try to actually act civil and see how you're treated. If you can't do that then please, by all means, remove yourself from the board. I don't think anyone would care.

If you want to show some class however I'm sure you'd be welcome to stick around and contribute more, and people wouldn't give you such a hard time. You do have some good points every once in awhile. It's really not that difficult to figure out. A little respect goes a long ways.

I understand when you're being dramatic...always. I'm not sure you know how sarcasm works tho.

tho huh? Lol....most of the time I seriously don't even know what 'language' your attempting to speak, lol.......You are in your own little world, my friend...............

You should clean up your typing before making fun of others. Nice last resort tho.

Willies showed a great deal of talent and athleticism. It's disappointing that things didn't work out for him in Iowa City. Ending up at Texas Tech was probably best for everyone and I wish him well.

He is in a pass-first offense and putting up some nice numbers. I doubt it will lead to a "high draft pick", but he might get a chance at the pros. Something that probably wouldn't have happened if he stayed at Iowa. Just seemed like his work ethic just wasn't there.
