Former hawkeye recruit and Gopher LB Sam Maresh

Yeah, being a local kid with a huge upside...big loss.

They needed to replace what, something like 9 starters on the D. Now there contending with one of their LBs with the most upside getting kicked off the team due to grades, their most experienced guy at LB is dealing with law issues, their most experienced safety got a DUI and will likely be their primary leader on the D, and their other returning starter at safety is rehabbing from a broken leg. Lastly, the basically now have no depth at DB with the 2 JUCO DBs getting sent home due to the fact that their eligibility clock starter quite a while ago (they'd reportedly be SRs in '10).

On top of that, they're dealing with yet another OC (although they're not changing their system on O) and two of their top receiving targets graduated after the '09 season.

Lastly, the Gophers have a tough schedule on top of all the above.

They are screwed with a capital S!

Yep, it could be a very tough year. They open @ Middle Tennessee St...a game they could easily lose. If they do, it will be a 1-3 win season and Brewster will be gone.

On the flip side if they win the opener and then on the 18th they get a USC team coming in that frankly could be ripe for an upset. I could literally see either happening. My current pick is the former, i think they have a really tough season.
