Former Hawkeye Don Nelson Recognized Among Best NBA Coaches

Wow. Sounds great. I am so old I watched Don play at Iowa. The game I saw was at MN in the same arena they still use. Nelson dominated and Iowa won big.

I listened to all the Hawkeye games on the radio then

I was at Dowling HS when I listened to that Ohio State game where Nelson
and Lukas fought on an equal basis

My man loves the weed. I get him and Lenny Wilkens mixed up. I'm not sure who has the all-time wins in NBA history and who has the all-time losses.

I have a DVD of the highlights of the 60-61 season. Nelson was the only Hawkeye with a game that could have translated to the modern era.

The all big ten first team included three centers. Lucas, Nelson, and Dischinger (sp) from Purdue.

One handed FT in the pros ... my lasting image of Nelson as a player.
