Former Cub Fergie Jenkins Slams McGwire

Wow. My whole perspective on life has changed by his simple opinion. Get over it! Pitchers who failed, failed. Its not the fault of the hitter, no matter what. Does he want to tell us how many batters he owes apologies to for pitching while a cokehead, or while he took amphetimenes? What about guys like Gaylord Perry who used the spitter to get guys out? It lame, its over. But, as usual, a Cub whining.

Umm...Fergie Jenkins failed? At what, 'cause he didn't fail as a pitcher.
Pitched 19 years in the Bigs; won 284 games; lifetime 0.557 winning %; lifetime 3.34 ERA; 3,192 career strikeouts.
Failed?

The difference is that recreational drugs like cocaine and amphetamines do not improve your athletic ability. If anything, they make it worse.

Congratulations, this is easily the dumbest and most uninformed post I've seen on this site.

McGuire cheated! Any baseball fan, regardless of his or her team should be outraged at ANYONE who used roids. Sosa's a turd too.

The people defending McGuire are the same toothless inbred Cardinal fans that gave the guy a standing ovation at their "fan fest".

Its funny these same people always walk around claiming their the best baseball fans in America.

Angry Cubs fan? 102 years will do that to a person.

It has NOTHING to do with being a Cubs fan. Just a huge baseball fan that thinks its refreshing to see former players tell it like it is.

McGuire cheated, plain and simple. The fact that the Cardinals actually hired him is a complete mockery of MLB.

He could of avoided this by admitting it earlier, rather then waiting for an interview where he could break down like a 12 year old girl.

BTW, the same Cardinals hicks who gave McGuire a standing O, booed Jack Clark a former Cardinal great who actually spoke the truth.

Pretty sad

I am a Cards fan who doesn't understand why they hired McGwire. I think it sends the wrong message and is disrespectful to the former players that didn't use steroids. I don't understand why LaRussa would want to put himself in the position to get continual grief from Major League Veterans. Oh, and LaRussa just found out that McGwire used steroids last week. Yeah, right!

You re reading comp skills need work, did I say Fergie failed? It was a reference to those he was saying failed when they pitched to him and couldnt get him out. DUH!

All the substances effected performance, like the muscle relaxers used back in the day to keep the arms loose to pitch, and pretty mcuh all of them used them, thus an advantage to the pitcher. So, uninformed is the ******* who thinks there really ever has been a "pure" era in baseball.

Ok, name a guy who broke all kinds of records using muscle relaxers.

Give me some evidence of that.

McGuire got caught red handed.

Cub fans are a jealous bunch and their players are just as jealous, of course then again when you have not won anything in a century that crap happens...

No this is not defending Mac either, it is just funny that the same cheaters back then are now calling out other cheaters...blah blah blah, where is the hate from these cubs calling out other cheaters...they are not...typical crap from cubs players and their fans.

Baseball players, the union, and the commissioner all knew that Sosa and McGuire were juiced and cheating that "famous" year. All you had to do was look at them. They both looked like the Hulk only they weren't green in color. They had to wear special uniforms because their clothes no longer fit. All one had to do was compare what they looked like a few years earlier and what they looked like that year. Their arms were bigger than most men's thighs.

But they were hitting home runs and baseball was making milliions and millions of dollars and everyone was happy. The home run race was nothng like the Mantle/Maris home run race. The McGuire/Sosa race--it was so obvious they were juiced and cheating. Baseball didn't care one iota as long as the stands were filled.

That is the year I quit watching baseball (and probably pro sports) and I loved baseball. I haven't watched baseball since. I grew up playing and watching baseball.

I completely quit watching the NBA about 13 years ago and haven't watched a game since. I have no idea who even plays in the NBA anymore nor do I even care. I have absolutely no interest in the NBA.

The thing is, once you quit watching...you find that you don't even miss it at all after awhile. I quit watching the NFL 4 or 5 years ago and I am finding I don't miss that either. I do watch an occasional quarter or so.

I just watch college sports these days and mostly just Iowa, although I will watch college football and some college bb other than Iowa. I am not losing interest, I just have a lot of other interests these days as I near retirement --other than sit around watching sports all day and all weekend.

There is nothing wrong with my reading comprehension skills, chief.
Your writing "style" is about as clear as mud.

Nice job! How long did it take come up with THAT original dig? Never heard the 100+ year one before...must be new!?!? Oh, and we had our own beloved roid head and he's now persona non grata, but keep pulling that wool over your eyes to hide yourself from the truth Cardinal fan...wouldn't want the world's most intelligent baseball fans to feel duped or anything so we'll just spin it to the 100 years thing if a Cub or Cubs fan says anything...

Worst apology yet and Cardinal fans instantly dropped to their knees and reached for their chapstick...
