Formation question

It seems like to me that the formation that has trips to one side with the QB under center gives us a ton of options. We haven't run it a lot but when we do we can run out of it or throw out of it. If we run it plays to our strengths of getting our talented RB's in space as well as the tight end, or even the QB. Am I wrong here? Does anyone have any stats on how much we have run this formation and our success rate?

Versus that, shotgun looks to be a disaster and the 2 tight end set doesn't seem to be working well because it just brings too many people in the box.

Yep they are good observations. The problem with being in shotgun is that we run the ball with our RB out of shotgun like twice a season. We need to run the ball out of shotgun more, especially this season with such a poor performing OL. We defiantly need to get away from the two TE sets this year. Teams are stacking the box since our WR's are poor and we likely to run. We just don't have the horses to block well with that personal out there. Pekar also isn't a receiving option out there so they don't worry about him.

Haven't seen much of the game but I did see the long TD run (out of the gun) by Wadley. Neat little scheme I don't remember seeing a ton of (wham/trap scheme with zone to the play side), helped by the fact that Purdue only had 6 in the box. Wham block by the wing, Scheel gets a body on the safety who missed the tackle, cue the fight song...excellent work by the OL/Wadley.

I hope we see more WR, RB screens and jet sweeps against Wisconsin. Watching the cowboys packers game and Dallas is having some success against the 3-4 defense of Green Bay.
