... based on a snap shot observation how does this affect your prediction of the seasons record?

From reading the posts it appears to me the offensive line is ahead of schedule and there were some pleasant surprises on the secondary, receivers and overall depth, and that is encouraging.

I feel the same way I did before today. We will compete for the Big 10 title and perhaps more if the cards fall our way. We have a great defense, we have a few reserve d line guys who are ready to play, our backfield(defense) might be as talented as Ive seen in years. The offense has a great leader in Stanzi, plenty of talent at WR....DJK has two tickets to the gun show thats for sure.....a TE who is ready to "get his" in Reisner and a beast in the wings with CJ and I think the oline is ahead of schedule and will continue that trend. If the oline is good it wont matter if it Hampton, A-Rob, Coker or Johnson running the rock, they should have success. The only thing that scares me is kicking....and I mean FG's. We dont have anyone I feel confident in past 40 yards.

That scares the crap out of me. Especially with our knack for close games.

looks like a Big Ten Championship team to me. Balls have to bounce the right way as they do every year, but maybe less than normal.

I expect the offense to put more daylight in the scoring differential this year than what we've seen the past two seasons. The cupboard is loaded at the skill positions and I believe the O-line will gel early in the season.

That being said you always need a reliable placekicker, especially for the 40 - 50 range.

Jewel sounds like he is looking really good. Rob Howe was really praising A-robs blocking skills.

DJK was actually PRAISED by KF (no doghouse this year?) and Iowa's receivers apparently look really, really good.

Gettis received a lot of praise from KF.

What I'm getting at is it sounds as though Iowa's offense has the potential to be better than last year. That's what it is going to take for those final scores to be "not so close".

Everything still hinges on the O-line. I'm guessing we might see a more elaborate passing attack this year with all the receiving talent.

It's just gonna come down to whether or not we win the close ones like we did last year. Don't have a lot of confidence in the kickers if a close game comes down to a field goal.

On the other hand, with that defense and if Ricky can eliminate the TO's and pick 6's, maybe we won't have so many close game.

A-Rob picked up Sash on a blitz up the middle and the coach ran up to A-Rob high-fived him. I did see that!
