Football will humble you

I guess we can stop that talk about "I can't see us being worse than 10-2". We are clearly not as good as we thought we were. Our O-line and D-line got dominated today by an FCS team.

This loss may be the second worst loss by an FBS team to an FCS team ever, behind only Michigan losing to Appy St.

Football is humbling because suddenly we look like a team that might go 7-5 whereas we had plans for so much more. Humility is dealt out often in college football-look was happened to Florida St. today-but it hurts when it happens to your team.

The Hawks need to use this defeat to get better. Out-coached, out-played today, particularly in the second half.

Humbling

Now go 11-1. With a strong sos in conference, and losses by the right teams they still have a chance for the payoffs. At least they can make another big time bowl that record. There were rough games early in 2002, 2004 and 2009 also. I am confident that the coaching staff will make the necessary corrections again.

Hope you're right of course, but NDSU exposed a lot of glaring weaknesses out there today.

There's no way we make the CFP with a loss to an FCS team on our resume. It doesn't matter who we play or if we win out and win the B1G championship. This was by all counts a game we were supposed to win.

They exposed Iowa's lack of strength along the LOS & lack of athletes at the skill positions.

To even think we can run the table after this loss is a sign of needing some serious counselling. Id say I admire you hope but I dont its actually a major sickness you should have evaluated in case it leads to more drastic ailments like rooting for ISU.

lol, thanks. I needed to hear a good joke and you delivered.

you could have also inserted the Jim Mora "playoffs? playoffs!!!" meme too.

If not for the 2 FG blocks against UNI that could have been the same. They came close to running the table, and very well may have if not for the Stanzi injury. I'm not worried, I have confidence in the players and coaches.

We'll beat Purdue, I don't see another win.

We are over-reactors aren't we?

On paper, I know on paper it looks like the second worst loss ever by an FBS team to an FCS one but the Bison would at least win 4-5 games in the B1G West, if not 6. Their lines are solid.

We'll regroup and win some more games, maybe only 5 but more than just one.

In this case, maybe Iowa should drop to BCS. They could be just as good and save a bunch of money.

Serious question, in light of today who do you see us beating?

If everyone gets and stays healthy, who can't we beat? We lose to bad teams all the time. It never has anything to do with how the rest of the year plays out. We just murdered Iowa state last week which we never do. Do people really not understand that a team can look great one week and terrible the next? Or they are just so blinded by anger they can't think with reason?

Our defense was healthy today and got pushed around pretty severely.

I'll grant you you out offensive line will get better if Daniels is back but our tackles are the issue and we have to live what we got there.

Make no mistake, this loss was pathetic and very alarming in how it happened. But Iowa plays in the weakest division in the Power 5. And outside of Minnesota & Illinois all of the teams they play don't have good QBs. Many teams they play have flat out bad QBs. For that reason alone Iowa can win those games.

Oh we can go on to have a nice season. No doubt. What pisses me off is that Kirk almost seems like he NEEDS to have bed-sh****** game before he pulls a rabbit out of his hat. None of us know whether it's a 7 win season or not.

Here's what is horrible. His contract says 7 wins ups the buyout to 100%. So every season his target is 7 wins from now on.

I just vomited in my mouth.

Our base defense is bad and we won't use anything else against "bad" teams. If that changes they have a chance to be ok. Our offense still has a chance to be really good. There is a lot to be said for a team that only has one chance at a game like this. They just give a little something extra and it can make up the difference in talent. It hapens all the time. Especially with Kirk as your coach.
