Fluke or Trend?

How much of the first games or even the last 3 have been 'flukes' and how many of them speak to the fact that we're just not very good?

In other words, are we better than what we've played and just not had "it" click or are we seeing the best of what we have?

I would say fluke if we had a "good" Iowa to reference, but we don't. We are plagued by all around bad play, which is indiciative of questionable talent. Last year we were giddy if we kept losses respectable and it appears we are in for more of the same this year. Regardless, I will be at CHA this afternoon hoping to see Basabe and Cartwright return to form.

I still think the Hawks will win 18.

It doesn't matter... People do not seem to realize how bad lick(with some help from Alford) f'ed the program. Fran may be or may not be the man but we really wont have an idea until after his 4th year..... Its just not even remotely fair to make judgments any sooner.

You will find out in the next couple of weeks. If this team has 6 wins going into the B10 season, some people may have second thoughts. Losing to UNI, ISU, Drake and Boise will be difficult to take, especially if they also are blowouts. There are trends that are concerning and may not change with the players on this team.

not sura a loss to BSU would be a bad loss considering what they did to Drake
but i am thinking with Cartwright battling a injury and the flu hurt his performance
Basabe is dealing with to much weight and is now getting back to his playing weight
i expect both when that are back to full strength this team will be better
May i have no idea what his trouble is he way Oglesby is shooting it may be a good thng to start him
if we had another point guard, Marble would probably start
the biggest need is at center, i wish brommer would step up, but his knee is a problem
Archie is hurt again,
McCabe is the same height as Cole and is just 10 lbs lighter
if need be he could be the 2nd forward in a 3 guard 2 forward lineup
the same as last year
i would hope Olaseni would get a shot at starting in the middle as his height would make a difference in rebounding and is a good free throw shooter
and the "that lineup would get killed in the BT" means nothing it is what we have to deal with so lets look for positives
McCabe vs Cole better outside shooter gives Iowa another 3 pt shooter
has shown he can rebound and plays hard and is just a sophamore
