I could be wrong or out of date, but I didn't think you could be on scholarship for another sport and walk on for football?
I thought this was done to keep coaches from filling up non-revenue sports to pad the football team.
It has always been my understanding that you can get the scholarship from another sport, but it still counts against the numbers in football. The money just comes out of a different pot (a non-revenue generating one in this instance).
