Flipped it to KY-Va Tech game

Haven't seen much of it just saw it was on and remembered that Ahmad Wagner is there. Looks like he hasn't done a whole lot. 15 catches 2 Tds for the season. Has he been hurt or why the lack of usage? Would he have done that or more had he stayed at Iowa? I mean the dude is an athletic 6'7. If you aren't throwing him the ball in the redzone once everytime you're down there the OC should be fired. I'm still a little jilted over him leaving. Obviously we didn't miss a guy like him this year so much but he'd have been here last yr and this yr. I need to find new things to worry about I know I know...

Their QB was injured pretty early in the year. They transitioned to a WR playing the position. He has done well given the limitations. But they hardly ever throw the ball. That has most likely impacted AW's statistics.

Ah gotcha had no idea of that. That'd make a bunch of sense. They are running it most of the time from what little I've seen.

I went to the UK-USC game and watched him a fair amount during the game. I don't think he's that fast and he had a hard time getting separation. I don't think he would have found the field at Iowa other than in very niche situations and then been really limited once there was film on him.

Yeah I wouldn't have tried to use him in any kind of overcomplicated way. When in the red zone just go to the endzone and jump up for the rebound. I mean just that alone would have drawn a 2nd defender to his side after doing it a few times I would think and help open up others. Even if you just used him in that way he'd have had value. Would rather use him then 5'11 Tracy on a play like that which we've done. He would probably draw PI a lot from it. I'd have rather had him then not I suppose is the gist of what I'm saying

Maybe. I don't think the staff would let him out there unless he was able to play on the edge of the line and could lay the absolute hammer on blocking and he didn't strike me as that type. The staff wouldn't want him out there on 3rd and goal from the 3 in a situation where he might be called upon to block on an audible into a run or for protection if necessary. It's really a testament to how high our talent level has risen, but I can see where it would be nice to have an option like that.

For sure he'd have had to be coached up with blocking. It seems as though he played a lot for KY and they did a ton of running the ball this year. Without having watched much (hardly any) of his tape I would think he'd have been decent at it just by trying as big as he is. But for sure he'd have to be coached up to an extent. I would some what compare his role to what Oliver Martins was for us. We threw him out there game one for just the type of play I'm talking about. And attempted a time or two more. I dunno I'm in dream land over here

From a CBS Sports mock draft:

Round 7 - Pick 22 (236)
Ahmad Wagner TE
KENTUCKY • SR • 6'5" / 234 LBS
PROJECTED TEAM
Green Bay
PROSPECT RNK
242nd
POSITION RNK
14th

Wagner is a big-bodied pass catcher that could grow into a tight end. He is still very raw but his potential is off the charts.

If nothing else there is precedent for former NCAA basketball players playing little or even no football at the college level and then having long NFL careers. Julius Peppers, Tony Gonzalez and Antonio Gates immediately come to mind.

On a related note Goodell is forging full speed ahead with the NFL draft on it's scheduled weekend, though he did tell teams to shut down their facilities whether they were in a "shelter in place" state or not. This was partially to appease GM's who were in affected states, but mostly it's Goodell saying "were the big bad NFL, and we don't give a shit what's going on in the rest of the world." He has threatened punishment for anyone who stands in his way.

If he thinks this virus isn't capable of shutting down his evil empire he's dead wrong. Eight weeks earlier and this would easily have cancelled the Super Bowl. If this comes back in the fall it WILL shut down his league.
