First Team All Big 10

Is it by position or just the 5 best players? I don't even know. Who deserves to be on the 1st team? I would go with these 5.

Valentine
Uthoff
Hayes
Ferrell
Hammons

Jok and Trimble are both 2nd Team IMO. Thoughts?

Edit - I contradicted myself here. I said who deserves to be 1st Team and then listed the players I thought would actually be named to the 1st Team...rather than the players I think deserve to be 1st team. I think Jok deserves to be 1st Team over both Ferrell and Hammons...tied with Hayes for the 3rd spot IMO.

Jok is going to lead the Big 10 in scoring and steals when all is said and done. Sorry about your luck Ferrell.

If it isn't by position than Jok over Hammons.

If it is by position, bye Ferrell. Jok is gonna lead the Big 10, or be very close to the top in points.

I think Yogi gets in over Jok just because...its Yogi...its Indiana...its a senior guard who has been a stud for 4 years.....etc. Its media bias at its best but I fully expect it to happen.

This is what I think also. And Trimble might even get more votes than Jok. So many people think he's way better than I think he is. I think Jok will be 2nd team and then be 1st Team next year even if someone else is more deserving...because of name recognition and he's a senior. I do think Jok's odds increase substantially if we win the conference outright and he continues to play the way he has been in conference play.

I don't think anyone other the 7 I initially listed even have a chance. Valentine, Uthoff and Hayes should be locks IMO.

Edit - Hayes is a also a Junior. So I guess Jok should get equal consideration.

I thought Uthoff had a shot at conference player of the year, but Valentine probably has moved ahead of him in the last three games.

I agree. Uthoff has one thing going for him. If he bounces back and plays well in these last 4 games and we win the conference outright he's the best player on the best team. And he's ended the season with 4 good games against 4 quality opponents.

These are Uthoff's percentages for the last 4 games.

FG = 41.2%
3 = 23.8%
FT = 76.0%

These are Uthoff's percentages for the season.

FG = 45.7%
3 = 41.6%
FT = 81.7%

In order to get back to his season average (for the final 8 games of the season) we should be able to expect this from Uthoff over the next 4 games.

FG = 50.2%
3 = 59.4%
FT = 87.4%

Edit - This would result in a 25.7 per game scoring average the next 4 games.

So, this is the B1G only stats right now. If Jok keeps the points thing going like he has lately, he'll probably overtake Uthoff and possibly Valentine. 4 games to make his best shot at 1st team (do they vote before the B1G tourney or after??). I'm not sure how you could keep Jok off 1st team now, let alone if he is 2nd or 1st in scoring....
