First Look: Transition game, ball screens critical in Michigan-Iowa matchup - UMHoops

Re: First Look: Transition game, ball screens critical in Michigan-Iowa matchup - UMH

This is a professionally researched posting w/ lots of great data points and illustrates why I think there is still plenty of upside for this team as it is now configured. ( meaning the B1G data = the softer non-con data).

Of humorous note is the blind loyalty shown by the witless who offer up their comments.

Good find and read. Thanks!

I love looking at these numbers, efficiency seems to be the best measure for Iowa....when you really break down every possession/points, etc...it makes me feel a little more confident going into Ann Arbor (God I hope so)...

MICH defense is the poorest in the league at stopping transition opportunities, and Iowa has more possessions/game and 20-25% are transition, w white and utoff in top 5 in finishing efficiency.

Add marble and Olesani as guys that will throw down on Michigans perimeter guys for very high % finishes.

Id like uthoff, white, ogles by, and marble defending the perimeter 3 pt shooting too....

This is a terrific piece, I wish there was an Iowa writer that subscribed to Synergy or another similar statistical service. Really provides another edge to the analysis.

Just wanted to bump this thread for people who haven't read it, there is a really, really good breakdown of the game on the Michigan site in that link.

I was pretty surprised when I clicked on it. I wasn't expecting the statistical breakdown they give. Very pleasant surprise. Nice to see this kind of stuff.

Reading that article and I'm amazed at the stat provided. Iowa is ranked 15th in bench minutes. You mean to tell me that there are 14 other teams that share more minutes? That's crazy talk right there.

Southern Utah, Savannah St., Arkansas, UMBC, Kennesaw St., New Hampshire, MVSU, FAMU, Howard, SIU-Edwardsville, Purdue, Houston and Penn.

We're actually 14th now.
