It's very easy to identify that every three point shot that was made by NW came when a defender left his man to play help defense on another players man. Every damn time, our guys would leave a shooter and not close out or rotate quickly enough to defend the open shot.

On EVERY and I'm talking EVERY defensive set, almost every hawkeye guard is flashing towards the ball to try and either trap or at the very least help an interior player. IMO it's time to let those post players sink or swim because this D isn't working at all! Quit playing help D and just man up on your guy.

Mono e mono.

It could have been an effective strategy to infect some of those NU players with mono, but not quite sure how you do that in a matter of 5 to 10 minutes.

Barring that, perhaps our defense could be more mano a mano.

Agree.......2 points is worth less than 3 points. Pretty simple.

I agree, though I see this happen with a lot of teams, not just Iowa. IMHO, in today's game there's generally too emphasis on help defense, and not enough on good individual defensive fundamentals. Way too many flat-footed, hands-down defenders, relying on teammates to help them out. And correspondingly, too many helpers not using good judgment on leaving their man.

LOL!!!!!!!!!! The sad part about my spelling is that I actually googled it above but failed to read that my spelling was wrong.

I think it's understandable to play zone against Juan Johnson and Jared Sullinger but man to man is probably the way to go against northwestern.
