Final spot(s)

Just a thought, does this up the ante for who we might take with the final 1-2 scholies? If I am one of the higher end guys Mac is recruiting, it's certainly not as big of leap of faith to choose the Hawks now, and perhaps they can now see they'd be part of something special in the making.

Someone out there with more inside info than me: who are we still recruiting on the upper end that we have a good chance of landing? My guess is that Mac pounded his fist last night, but is up already, and back at it first thing this morning trying to add another four star or high three to round out this already stellar class.

Getting national press like this doesn't hurt either:

Adam Woodbury, an ESPNU 100 center and Iowa native, commits to Iowa Hawkeyes - ESPN

One other thought. To think there were a lot of folks on here who thought the sky was falling and questioning (again) Fran's recruiting abilities, when when Washpun went to Tennessee. You know who you are.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another point guard in this class. Anthony Clemmons is taking on OV in the next few weeks. I believe he is down to Northern Illinois and Iowa. He seems like the type that would come in and maybe get a redshirt to offset him from the big class that he would be a part of and then play a little before seeing more action as an upperclassman. Maybe he would see action as a frosh if necessary, but I don't think he is as ready for Big Ten play as Mike Gessell.

If not Clemmons, JuCo point guards might be targeted. I'm not sure who would be the target there, but I would expect him to be an April signee.

With the sixth scholarship, I agree on Gavin Thurman. He's a solid player.

Regardless of who we sign, I would bet that we either land a JuCo or redshirt one or two freshmen.

as much as i like the idea of Paige, he is really that big of a need, we need a pt that is willing to be a backup to Gesell, i see 2 options we take a player like Clemmons or wait til spring and see if a JUCO pops up which is a better option, the best player is Macon a Top 50 6'8 f, that has narrowed his list to Cinncinnati, Iowa, Pitt and USC, but i fell he is a Pitt lean but he is supposedly waiting til spring, to me those are a better option at this time vs Paige, Thurman i don't know a thing about how he feels as nobody is really talking about him, also there are not too many kids with offers out there, Clemmons as of yet has no offer, with a solid Top 20 class in hand he might just hold the other 2 til 2013 so he has 3 to work with, this is not the most popular thought out there but it is a real possibility

Gesell/ Olgesbe pt
Marble/ Ingram sg
May/ White sf
Basabe/ McCabe pf
Olaseni/Woodbury c

Meyer who Fran plans to use at the 3,4 and 5, so that make a solid 2 deep, with May being the only senior to leave in 2013
