Final Rivals 150

This Rivals 150 list is about as useless as an NFL mock draft in January.

Im sure a lot of people here know that recruiting can be a crapshoot, especially after the top 25-30 guys. Just threw this out there because recruiting is so fresh in Iowa fans minds because of the last few days and there are quite a few names of interest on that list.

Really? From 2007 to 2010, the schools with the most Rivals 150 commitments are:

Kentucky
Florida
Ohio State
UCLA
Indiana
Kansas
N.C. State
Duke
North Carolina
Syracuse

Not a bad list.

Also, if you exclude the top 25 players from each class, the top programs are:

Florida
Indiana
Washington
UCLA
Oklahoma St
Arkansas
Ohio State
Illinois
Purdue
Virginia

I'm really happy with this class no matter the rating. I think this is a group that gives us exactly what we need in terms of size, depth and athletisism. The ranking is probably pretty fair for all of these guys because they all a little rough and undeveloped still.

This is not a Marble, Horton, Armstrong and Gamble class by any means, but I think it still has the potential to turn out to be an absolutly stellar group when all is said and done. Let's see how it plays out and hope that the early defection bug is all behind us.

Wasn't trying to be critical of you. I just don't think there's a lot of difference between guys at, say 100 and 175. Was just trying to keep the faith with this class.

Why would Iowa want to be on a list like that? Obviously Scout and Rivals are completely biased towards the Hawks.

The people who rank basketball recruits generally do a good job, and the teams that bring in multiple top 100 guys usually win.

That being said, they aren't perfect, and to this point Fran has done a pretty good job at finding kids that can perform well, but aren't rated highly.

Basabe and Cartwright, and I feel Hubbard and White will fit this bill also, while Olaseni might take some time.

To be fair, the top 150 doesn't include JUCOs, but I don't think Hubbard or Cartwright are ranked at JUCO junction either.

A team can be successful without top 150 recruits. The style of play and having the personnel to implement the system, with excellent coaching and development can work wonders. I have a feeling that Fran is the man to achieve this. He has recruited the players who have athletic ability and will fit into his system. By coincidence they are also players with court awareness with very good passing skills. I also have a feeling that we will start to get some of those top 150 recruits. The stage is being set.
