Ferentz's new contract / NFL aspirations

I've seen a number of folks (including Jon, if I recall correctly) who think the NFL is in coach's future, and it seems he's reached an age where that decision would have to be made in the not too distant future. Does the new contract (which I realize is non-binding as these things go) suggest that Ferentz has different ideas?

Kirk will finish his career at Iowa. The main reason is his wife...he constantly says when he has visions of grandeur his wife snaps him back to reality.

Kirk said a long time ago something like he cold see going to the NFL when he is old and get his hind end shot off...something along those lines. I have felt the last five years he will retire at Iowa...and certainly believe that more today

If this question is asked and the same answer from Kirk is I will stay forever at Iowa 200 more times, then will people quit asking this silly question. Hes been there done that. He love his job and is getting paid pro coach money.

Kirk strikes me as a cautious person. He has a good program with a solid foundation built.

Given the NFL's penchant for a "what have you done for me lately" attitude, I don't really see him wanting to pick up and move, only to have to rebuild a program. Let's be honest, it isn't like anyone is going to toss a college coach the keys to a program like Green Bay, or Indianapolis. He would probably end up at a middle to bottom of the pack team wanting to rebuild. Sure the money would be great, but I just don't think that would be something he would want to do.

I'm shooting from the hip on that as I have no idea as to the inner workings of Kirk's mind, but that is just my gut feeling.
