Ferentz unwilling to hire from outside program?

Being as he made an internal hire with the DC, do you think its proof he is unwilling to hire from outside the program and we can expect the OC to be from the staff as well?

With Fort Kinnick, we will never know if this was the original plan or if Ferentz was unable to hire any of the other potential candidates out there. Brock Spaeck may have wanted to remain a head coach. UIowa Legal and/or Admin may have said Tom Bradley was unhirable. Jim Herrmann may have turned down an offer very late in the process.

We may never know ...

On to the OC hire.

Guys, if Jim "I couldn't hack it at Michigan" Hermmann and Tom "Potential Chernobyl" Bradley were two of the three actual finalists that we could locate, then (a) Iowa football could be in big trouble and (b) Ferentz made the right choice.

I didnt say approach. I said hire.

So the fact that he almost definitely approached and interviewed people outside the program doesnt count? Kirk hired the best candidate in his mind...who just happened to be from within

Herrmann and Bradley arent better just because the didnt coach at Iowa last season

Who did you want him to hire, and what evidence do you have that that person would have been better than Phil Parker?

Whoa I never said anything about anyone being better than anyone else.

I just asked if this is a sign that he is unwilling to HIRE from outside the program and we can expect the OC to be from within as well.

Whoever is better is all that matters. I don't care if he coaches at Iowa or in Australia. As far as the OC goes, there's one guy in the program that I think would be the best, and another who I don't think would be. I'm more interested in that than whether or not he currently coaches for the Hawks.

Much much too risky...the Iowa staff does not take risks...Kf doesn't even walk home at night alone in the dark alone, much too risky...

Campbell would be a great choice for OC, and I would be very happy with that promotion if it were to happen. I am very disappointed with the Parker promotion, however. This defense needed a change, and now all we will get is the exact same thing as before. Nothing shouts "Come to Iowa!" to recruits like a middle aged white guy with no coordinator experience. I will say it now, and feel free to quote me in your signatures, I predict Iowa will not make a bowl game this coming season.

You're giving some credit for slowing down, and actually reading what you posted.

Phil Parker does have experience - he was interim coordinator when Norm took sick on multiple occasions.

wtf?
