Ferentz said, "Game was over" when they could not get the 4th and 1

This is 2 weeks in a row where Iowa could have got back in the game by converting a short 3rd and 1, but BF calls the exact same play on 4th and 1 after that play failing on 3rd and 1.

Against Purdue it was the QB sneak. Failed on 3rd and 1. BF calls exact same play on 4th and 1 and fails again.

Against Wisc, it was the quick hand-off to the FB. Failed on 3rd and 2, failed again on 4th and 1.

There was another time against Wisc where it was obvious to even me Iowa was running the exact same play 2 plays in a row. The 2nd time it was run, Goodson was stopped for a 3-yd loss.

BF just shows a certain stubbornness that a OC needs to fight against. Running the same play 2 times in a row is a bad habit he needs to break.

Now I am not saying you don't come back later to a play that is working. That approach worked great against MD where Iowa kept running the QB bootleg throw to TE play again and again. Just don't run the same play 2 times in a row.

Iowa has won a single BCS or NY6 or whatever level game between 1960 and today. The offensive coordinator of that team, Sir Kenneth James Francois O'Keefe, is on this staff, but has been relegated to trying to teach the quarterback position to a guy who just have the tools to play it.

My patience with the chucklefuck calling plays right now is wearing thin. The fact that this team still can't figure out the 3-4 is remarkable. I gave him the benefit of the doubt in 2017 and 2018, but the absolute skullfucking this team has taken at the hands of Purdue and Wisconsin is just too damned much for me to bear. The offense is completely and totally befuddled by a competently coached 3-4. I've never seen anything like this shit show because it literally never gets any better.

Agree a lot with you which is unusual, haha, but the hawks have handled multiple 3-4 front 7's this year, ISU being one which is supposed to be really good. But guess what, Wisky just has better athletes, better friggin Lbkrs and better DTackles than these other teams (which is why they are rated so high in defensive stats).

I agree that Brian/Brain doesnt get it done most of the time. I cant for the life of me cannot figure out why he and Kirk cant run simple 4 yard slant patterns and simple sit-down/stop patterns 4 yards down the field to get the ball out of the QBs hands in 1.5 seconds and complete passes on 1st and 2nd down at a high percentage to get good yards.

The hawks came out with 4 wides and shifted Goodson out to a flanker position early on, it didnt work because the routes took too long, so THEY EFFING GAVE UP ON IT. What did Wisky do after 3 straight games of run heavy offense, they came out mixing in the pass because they knew they couldnt totally run the ball on our defense. The hawks defense got plenty of stops, a great goal line stand, and the offense and Brian and Kirk shit the bed.

You cant totally waggle and rollout Petras all day long but you can effing move the pocket now and then to one side or the other, DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. The reverse to KJohnson was perfect because we hardly do it.

The funny thing is, KOK is a damn good coach - a very effective OC.

When you say you’ve hated an OC in the last 20 years you actually hate KF’s philosophy. He is not a hands off coach.

I was just trying to make the point that I'm getting really sick and tired of them taking the ball, going 3 and out, and then having to kickoff to start the 2nd half. When the offense sucks this badly DEFER!

But I agree with your point as well, 2 weeks to prepare and that was the shit they came up with. Most coordinators would be on the hot seat after a performance like that, but not at Iowa, BF has one of the safest jobs around.

I thought the exact same thing. Would be nice to receive a 2nd half kickoff. And, we have been a very slow starting team in the first quarters of games this year.
