Ferentz at DeMatha look at STAR players

I think he could be on the coaching staff. Love that piece and glad to see the coaches' enthusiasm toward Iowa.

Why the sudden focus on recruiting DeMatha, given their head coach's respect for Ferentz? I'd have thought sometime along the way (prior to Coker) we'd have picked up a DeMatha kid.

If we got CK and DC, we would end up with the #1 recruiting class in the Big Ten for the first time under KF.....I'd be OK with that :)

No way we would jump Ohio State even after getting both of those guys.

Maybe not.....it would be closer than you think though. And I guess it depends on the site. Rivals weights 5 stars very heavily.....OSU has none currently.

We get CK and DC, we'd be top 15 (we're currently rated 25th) for sure on Rivals....if we could eek out one more 4*, I'd bet we would pass OSU. Of course, that assumes they don't take anymore commits....but my understanding is they are going to have a smaller class this year, and they currently have 19...so they're probably pretty close to done...maybe one or two more.

I just looked up Cooper on Rivals. Noticed he was offered by MSU and they list Ted Gill as the recruiter.....i thought that name sounded familiar, then it came to me.........wow, that's a name from the past.

Terrific article. Something to remember when we all get down on KF. This DeMatha coach knows quality when he sees it. Makes me proud to be a Hawkeye.

OSU is far from done, Doran Grant will commit tonight and Walker, C. Grant and a couple others may be in the cards as well. No way any B10 team passes OSU....

The only way that we'd pass OSU is if we swept all of our top remaining targets (Kouandjio, Cooper, Price, Jackson, and Simmons). Since THAT'S not happening (I'll be ecstatic if we get CK, DC, and EP), we aren't going to pass the Buckeyes.

The fact that CK has a brother playing at Alabama and wants to play in a warm climate is a little intimidating. Hopefully Coker is doing work on recruiting him and hopefully our reputation of our O-line helps CK pick Iowa.

Interesting that Coach Ferentz would choose today to visit DaMatha, since Kouandjio is at the UA All-American game and not on campus today. I feel like if he had waited a couple days, maybe a week, he could have killed two birds with this visit.

Kouandjio's coach downplayed the importance of a warm climate (FWIW), and Kouandjio himself said early in the recruiting process that his brother wasn't going to give Alabama an advantage over any other school.

I thought that at first, but then thought that maybe it is perfect timing. Cooper may feel like he's playing second fiddle to CK and the individual attention may be a something that stands out to him. Just my 2 cents.

Good assessment, that makes a lot of sense.

I could not agree more! Excellent angle of thinking! We have to remember these kids are just that...kids. The more attention they receive the better it makes them feel.
