My league had a very early draft this evening. I had the first pick in odd rounds and the last pick in even rounds (#s 1 and 20, etc.). What do you think of my team? Round number is in parentheses. We use standard Roto scoring.

Nice. We are in the middle of our ongoing draft. How many teams are in your league? We have a 15 team league. I have so far:

2B: Dan Uggla
SS: Tulo
3B: Evan Longoria
SP: Matt Cain & Dan Haren

We have 10 players in our league. It makes it a little easier to have really high quality at the top. A 15 player league would be tough, but you look to have a solid core with Longoria and Tulo. What's your scoring system?

Not too shabby. Pitching looks very solid, nice blend of dominant starters (Verlander and Kershaw), solid to very good starters (Latos, Hanson, Chacin), and closers. Very good roto staff. Outfield isn't bad, although perhaps just a little thin. The infield is where you look weakest, with only Cabrera and Posey as your go-to guys. But overall, pretty good. I don't prefer roto scoring, though. I prefer total points, where pitching is king.

What positions do you start? I'd let Montero go for some more pitching depth. You're never going to drop or not play those other 2 starting Catchers. If you can only start 1 2b, Kipnis should be let go too, but I'm not sure how many positions you can start. Very early draft by the way. FYI, Guerra is the closer in LA, but you might already know. Also, Myers for Houston was named closer last night.

UTIL--Jesus Montero
5 OFs and 9 Ps
3 Bench (Likely Harper, Belt, and Sanchez to start the year.)

My thought is that I do need another relief pitcher and another middle infielder. I'm going to wait to see how Bryce Harper's roster spot shakes out and how much playing time he'll get before I make a move. I picked Harper for potential knowing full well that I needed other positions more than outfield.
