Iowa Football: It's still college football and is the kingpin collegiate sport. With Iowa's new staff there is new excitement and that unknown to look forward to but also there appears to be a lot of inexperience and lack of talent going into next season.

Iowa Basketball: Great momentum finishing the season strong and lot of young talent returning with more experience and a top 20 class incoming. But they do lose Matt Gatens, a rock solid leader and go to scorer for this team plus the unknown of what the freshmen class will or will not provide.

So what sport are you most looking forward to next season?

Basketball should have more of an upside next year and basketball is my first love so it was an easy choice for me.

After the first couple of football games things could change for me. After the last two season its hard to not be negative. I miss watching a good Iowa defense. Shout out to Norm.

I am excited for Iowa basketball, and I think there is a bright future to look forward to. Next year may be a little more of a struggle than some think. 2 years from now, I expect a lot. Football is still king. It is simply the best sport to watch in my opinion, therefore, I will always be more excited for that season.

If the question is purely about excitement, football will always win. There's nothing better than Kinnick on a gameday.

If the question is which will have a better season, I'd probably go with basketball because I'm only expecting another seven win season in football.

Good stuff guys. Keep it up. Both are kind of an unknown, so it is definitely one of the more intriguing seasons coming up.

Kind of a loaded question coming on the heels of a huge iowa victory in basketball.
I'll say............basketball.

I think everyone basically knows football is going to go 7-5 next year.

Basketball could make the tournament, one might argue should make the tournament.

Considering where the two programs were, this is a no brainer.

Hawkeye basketball is what brought me into the Hawkeye family, so I have to go with basketball.

But even with that said, basketball right now definitely has the momentum. We have a relatively new head coach, putting in place a system we all want, recruiting at an extremely high level, and knocking off teams that no one expected us to knock off. That is the recipe for fan excitement.

Football for all it's past successes, feels really stale right now. But that could change IF it becomes obvious from the get-go that some of the reins have been lifted from the new coordinators and there are some fresh and innovative approaches to both offense and defense. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that, but not near as much as basketball!

Go Hawks!

If we make the Big Dance next year, that will exceed my expectations. Iowa will still be a young team next year, and losing Gatens may hurt especially early in the season.

I admit, I have no idea what the football team will do next year. I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

Bruce, I hope u r right re: fan expectations for next year, in football. Would make things a lot easier to deal with ;)

NCAA basketball is my favorite sport. During the Lickliter era, I couldn't wait for the season to end. Now, I can't wait to see how coach McCaffery incorporates his new recruits into a well-oiled, killer, run and gun machine. Look out Big Ten. We're back!

With Iowa football, I have come to expect some questionable and disappointing losses, not to mention some mysterious player defections, explained away with grade A coachspeak.

I am a huge football fan, but had to pick basketball due to momentum of this year and recruits coming in. If this were next year I would say push. I think the talent will be there with experience in football in 2 years, not next year, and though I'm very excited about next year in bball, I think I will be extremely pumped for Marble/Basabe/McCabes' senior years.
