He made some good plays in limited time in the second half. Good to see and getting a rotation in the dee line. Nelson at Dee End getting reps to spell Hesse, etc. Bo Bower rushing in the raider package.

Kudos to the defense on that last Purdue drive when it was 3rd and 1 yard and they held them to a half yard and then on 4th and a half yard the defense stuffed them for no gain. Super work.

Great way for Canzeri to finish his Kinnick career.

I agree, was at game n saw the whole front 4 was different and was applying better pressure. Maybe we need to rotate them in a bit more to keep them all fresher

The lack of defensive substitutions/rotation the last three games is baffling to me. It should concern everyone.

Not sure if we can't substitute because the offensive isn't substituting, or if it is snap count or what, but we haven't been rotating, and it is obvious.

I didn't realize until I read last in one of our last three games we played only 13 on D. It hit me again when I saw Faith in the 4th qtr yesterday.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious. Not sure..

I thought I saw #61 playing on the D-line in the second half. Who dat?

Kyle Terlouw is #61 from Sully IA area. He is a junior 2nd teamer.

I agree with the lack of substitution and keeping fresh legs.

Purdue was substituting yesterday so the hawks were also allowed to , but minnesota may have had a lot of plays where they didnt sub making it that Iowa couldnt sub

Yes I'm glad to see more of a rotation on D,however it worries me that we can't get a push with our front 4 on passing downs. Were last in the conference for QB sacks.Dont get the wrong idea I'm proud of our team being 11-0 just wish we had a blitz package that would work.Moving forward were going to see faster teams getting to the edge.

@hawkeyegamefilm: Part of Iowa defensive issues: DL has been going 'iron man' since bye week, both DTs playing 90+%(~60/G) of snaps a game, DEs ~95%(~65/G)

I've been thinking for the last couple of weeks that I would like to see Faith in the rotation at Hesse's DE spot. Hesse has done nothing but play hard, but the game plan has obviously been run left to his spot which has setup the play action to take advantage of cole fisher in the pass game. Think Faith would do well on 1st and 2nd downs and make Parker, and the entire defense more effective on 3rd. MSU has a big o-line, we will likely need a bigger body to anchor the edge.

I've been concerned that the front 7 are getting worn down. Since about the Indiana game, we seem a step or two slower and don't seem to have the same push up front, and the LB's don't seem to be filling the holes quite as fast. Hope it's just me. If not, I hope they can somehow catch their second wind for the last 2 games.

Faith was a DE last year iirc, Nelson was playing more 1st and 2nd down with Hesse coming in on pass downs, Hesse had a nice sack but it was a coverage sack.

I hate to hear fans in the stands giving Mabin a hard time when in fact he has to guard a guy for 5+ seconds. King gave up a lot of catches yesterday for the same reason as when purdue had the wind you have to give some cushion or turn and run so easy to get beat on a comeback pattern. King got beat of a few comeback patterns yesterday but how could he not with that time allowed to the purdue qb.
