facilities role ...

Trust the process...and be content with 6-6, 7-5...and go on the Iowa cruise...that's something special.

True. Facilities cannot score touchdowns and sack QBs. You need the horses. While Iowa may be ahead of others in the facilities arms race, it won't last forever. Their window is small, a 7-5/6-6 season isn't going to get it done. The best kids want to play where they can win, not just where they can play video games. Heck, they've lost 1 recruit.

It is amazing how fast the air can get sucked out of the balloon (and, I fear, how hard it will be to put it back in)

Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Stanford. The have fallen mightily this year. All big name winning programs. Things happen. Last year everything fell into place for Iowa. This year not so much. Look at the calls that have gone against Iowa and cost them touchdowns and possibly wins. Whether people want to believe it or not the coaches are trying to do their best, the don't want to lose. Do they do everything right and make the best decisions all the time. No. How many of us can say that we have always made the best/right decisions in our lives?
Think if Iowa didn't spend money on facilities? Would we be like Purdue and Illinois right now?

Exactly. Facilities are the only reason Iowa even has a chance at above average recruits. What else is Iowa going to sell?
