Quick correction Rob, the first sentence says Tyler Smith. While he reminds me a little of Tyler Smith, I think you meant Tyler Cook.
You're the man Rob. This site is way better with you here.
Just watched the video. Man is he quick, powerful, and explosive. Anyone remember how Tyler Smith looked as a freshman compared to him?
Since we are on the topic, do you think Tyler Cook is more talented than Tyler Smith was as a freshman?
I believe come only the end of December, it will become evident the two Tylers are not in the same league.
This Tyler has an all-around game that fantastic now, but will grow considerably with Fran & Co's tutelage. Cook's offense is already dynamic with his ambidexterous moves, quickness to the ball, And his improving jump shot. If TC can solidify his defense with some additional coaching and experience, which he soon should, he will be in the Top 5 All-time freshman in Iowa history.
That's a TALL order, but he has the talent, skills and it sounds like the work ethic to do just that.
For reference Tyler Smith averaged roughly 15pts, 5Rebs, and 3.6assists as a freshman. That was on probably a less talented team but they were not awful (4th in the Big10).
If Tyler Cook is somewhere in that 12pts/6Rebs range I think we will be in good shape.
Rob, is Tyler Cook actually a legit 6'-9"?
