expectaion vs hype

I keep reading statements about these two things as if they are the same. They are two very different things.

Hype is final four predictions.

Beating msu at home was a totally legit expectation. Competing for a league title was a legit expectation.

So if you were expecting final four, then yes you bought some hype.

You should have believed Iowa could win most of the games theve lost this year. The players dropped the ball for no good reason.

Saying expectations were to high is a cop out to make yourself feel better, they were not too high, and using hinde sight to justify the idea that we should have expected to blow close games is nonsense.

This group and coach are flat out underachieving.

Hopefully they will pull their heads out, force themselves to focus, make the damn freethrows and win games from here out.

When there are all of these college basketball experts out there saying we could be a final 4 team, the hype was out of control. I never bought into that myself because we just don't have a lot of playmakers, relatively speaking. We have depth-a lot of pretty good players who, when playing together, are pretty darn good. I always thought we were maybe the 3rd or 4th best team in the B1G and perhaps a top 25 team but not a top 10 team.

The loss sucked but in a way it might benefit the team as the hype has all but ended and they know they have to bring it every week to win.
