Expansion to Remain Geographically Close

If Texas wants to come to the Big Ten, the Big Ten won't turn them away, regardless of distance, IMO.

I thought that geography would play an issue in this, but practically everyone states that it won't.....so I guess it doesn't.

I think it will play a factor, just maybe not how everyone is thinking. I think they'll try very hard to get a team in a new market.

Agreed. Geography matters, in the opposite way that people, including myself, originally thought it might. It makes sense that the conference would ideally want to avoid geographic redundancy, with N.D. being the obvious exception.

There is one thing, and one thing only, that possible expansion is about. It is not geography, status, competition or academics - no matter what talking heads will tell you. It's about one thing, and one thing only:

If there is $$ to be made by the schools involved in expansion, the current schools in the conference, the Big Ten Network and the conference, expansion happens. If there isn't $$ to be made, it won't.

Air Miles comparison between B10 and B12 cities. Geography may not be the barrier for Texas that you might assume.
