ESPN Reporting Carroll/Seahawks reach deal

One has to wonder if this move has more to do with USC being investigated by the NCAA...Carroll jumping ship knowing the heat will be turned up?

I think it makes it a lot easier, and he can see that the run he has had is over...he'll never be able to duplicate it.

It was historic. I will grant him that. Was it totally honest? Probably not. Did he have knowledge of some the alleged benefits? I doubt it

If true this could signal a huge shift in the balance of power in multiple areas. First, maybe this is when UCLA finally can make some leaps to catch up with USC. It's a fairly rare occurrence when a new coach is hired that the new coach hits the ground running and produces at the same level as his predecessor. Look for USC to drop to 7 or 8 wins for the next couple of years.

Then looking around the whole landscape. Florida is probably going to have a drop off. They pretty much lose the whole team, not just Tebow. Texas loses Colt so there will probably be a small drop off there too. Oklahoma didn't really look that solid this year and I'm not sure if they will make the leap back to the top this coming season. Cincy will disappear. Notre Dame will take at least a year or two to get their new system running.

So nationally, I think Iowa and tOSU are really starting to look good going into next year.

Absolutely. He also sees the rest of the Pac Ten catching up with bans on post-season and scholarship losses on the near horizon.

Just think what all those kids at the Army All-American Game must be saying to each other. There are a truckload of USC verbals there. They must be crapping bricks. This is going to cause a major landslide with recruiting.

I wouldn't look to grab too many of these 5 star guys, but I would keep my eye on the three star guys that programs like OSU will have to drop when they get back in the market for some of these other kids.

USC has a ton of history and tradition but before Pete Carroll came to town, they were not a national player.

This is going to happen again, USC is not Ohio State. The balance of power IS shifting in the Pac-10, and I can tell you right now, buy stock in the Washington Huskies for next year.

Will USC go after a certain Washington head coach now?

No way does Sarkesian leave after one year...

Honestly, Washington historically is as good of a job as USC is, and you don't have another major rival 11 miles away. LA is and always will be a one team town, there is not room for both in Angelion's attention spans.

Could KF leave Iowa for USC it wouldn't be the first Iowa coach to do so Howard Jones (I think), left Iowa for USC and won a national championships.
