That SEVEN times in the Ferentz era the UNDERDOG has won the ISU/IA game outright, and EVERY one of those it was ISU. That means that SEVEN of the NINE ISU vicories they were underdogs.

Also means Hawks have been favored in 15 of the 17 meetings, but won just 8. UGH.

The most surprising part of that is ISU was actually favored twice. It's one thing to lose to them, but it's way worse to field a bad enough team to be considered an underdog.

Outside of one year (2002) Iowa turned out to be very average or just straight up bad. I don't think Iowa is going to be bad this year.

I agree with this for the most part. 2001 and 2005 being the exceptions. I thought both teams were good, 2001 team was loaded with talent but insisted on playing the wrong QB (whole other conversation), 2005 team was good but like 2001 failed to close a lot of close games.

I know during this game all records are thrown out the window, but this year the ISU team might be at an all time low.
