ESPN Article - Iowa LineBackers

There was an interesting side note in the story. Chad Gilson the UNI transfer was mentioned to take over next year. Perry and Fisher were not mentioned. Is this an indication that Gilson is working his way up the depth chart in practice ahead of the others? Also Spearman was mentioned as lb rather than de next year.

I read it as "they" mentioned these guys, as in Morris, Kirksey and Hitchens. That doesn't mean they didn't mention others as well. It really could be interpreted in a number of ways, cause it could also be the only 3 they mentioned??

Seems the plan is still Spearman still at LB, which I am glad to see. I think that is why the staff is still after a rush DE. All speculation, but maybe with the bowl practices we will learn more, as some things leak out.

The question is why would Chad Gilson be listed as a guy that they have confidence in to pick pick things up next year rather than Perry or Fisher? Has he worked himself ahead?

He must be performing well in practice. Since he has to sit out this year, he won't be listed on the two-deeps, but maybe he is playing well.

I think you're hitting it right on the head here. We haven't heard anything about him this year because of his sit out year.

I will admit to being nervous about next year at the LB position, but to have it mentioned in a story about 3 outgoing LBers could be read as a positve.
