Former Iowa Hawkeye All-America offensive lineman Eric Steinbach retires after nine NFL seasons | TheGazette

From article:

There was a poignant segment in Tuesday night’s “Hard Knocksâ€￾ when 9-year NFL veteran offensive lineman Eric Steinbach tells Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin that he simply can’t compete the way he wants.

Like most 9-year NFL guys, injuries had taken their toll on Steinbach. He chose not to be a hanger-on, and Wednesday morning announced his retirement from football.

He was once one of the highest paid lineman making a little over 7 million per year. If he has taken good care of his finances then get the heck out of the NFL while you can still walk.

Anyone else feeling old seeing these guys start to retire and realizing that magical season was a decade ago?

Eric Steinbach has teh kewlest and most choice first name in the history of first names.
