Emotional Hyberbole

It's fun after a big win or great season (Best....., Most Incredible....) and we wallow in it after a disappointing loss/season (Worst......, Most Painful). Questions I have- Do you really believe what you're typing. Do you feel better/vindicated after a disappointing loss to rip one of the players?

I believe what I type at the time I'm typing it.

It makes me feel much better ripping players and coaches. I'd rather this than spouting off about how we were "beaten by a lesser team", "we beat ourselves", or "we beat that team 9 out of 10 times".

I believe what I type, but I also usually don't attack anyone. Also, if one avoids being too result-based, it helps. For instance, a poster in another thread mentioned how Jantz missed like four deep balls where his guy had a step or two to support an assertion that the D was not as great as many were saying. That kind of analysis tends to not get too distorted by emotion.

I personally hate the "what-if" scenarios and they tend to show the utmost levels of distorted emotion.

They're not what-ifs. Perhaps I used a bad example. A better example would be the people that were saying after MSU last year "how can you fall behind 31-7 at home." Well, that's result-based complaining, and frankly, that was one Ferentz loss where I actually felt like we just hit a buzzsaw of guys making plays.

The missed passes by Jantz aren't meant to say that Saturday's past result should have been different, it's meant to say that we'll probably have games this year where we give up 30+, so don't go crowning the defense yet. I think that's pretty calculated and unemotional.

If it helps any, the Wisky people are going haywire, too.

One of the UW defensive ends was quoted in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as saying "this team obviously wasn't better than us."

Love it...UW didn't score until 1:30 remaining in the game and had 38 yards of rushing, averaging over a little over 1 yard per try.

The paper is also talking about getting excited for the pizza sticks at the Little Ceasar's Bowl.

So, other fanbases get pretty weird, too.

Would love a report on Nebrakskee too.

For me this didn't help. Sorry..

Both Wisky and Neb lost on the road and they both will be going to a bowl and if people find humor in a bowl that neither will go too then good for them

As for Iowa, I would gladly accept a pizza sticks and that bid. :)
