The "Butler Way" is definitely in full effect today. This has to be Lickliter's dream game. I thought it was interesting that his first year it was all about how we were going to build a foundation of Defense. I then looked up a couple of #s:
07/08 Season: Offense: Avg. 56.1ppg -- Defense: Avg. 56.3ppg -- 13-19 record
08/09 Season: Offense: Avg. 60.2ppg -- Defense: Avg. 57.3ppg -- Net gain: 3.1ppg (+2 Wins)
09/10 Season: Offense: Avg. 60.8ppg -- Defense: Avg. 66.2ppg -- Net gain: -8.3ppg (-5 Wins)
So our offense got better, but at an average marginal rate of 2.35ppg year-over-year. Our defense clearly got worse at an average marginal rate of 5ppg given up YOY. So, simple math here folks, giving up on average twice as many points on defense for every point we improved offensively.
So we basically had the crap Butler offense "system" without the defense
