Robert Smith, head coach of Simeon ( 4 straight IL state titles (Jabari Parker/D. Rose, etc. grads) tweeted that Iowa coach was in to see Ed Morrow, stud 6'7" Jr. yesterday.

I've always dreamed that one day Iowa would get access to the Chicago Public League players.

I have followed this kid since Iowa started recruiting him last winter. He has an interesting backstory. Iowa was among the first BCS schools to start to court him.

His dad played football at Nebraska, and his mom played bb at Nebraska. He lived in Lincoln until they moved to Chicago when he was 10 yrs old to be closer to his ailing grandma. They live on the tough west side, to be near to her. They take extreme measures to keep the whole family safe, like running to the house from the car to avoid any bullets.
Ed is a mature young man with his head on straight. His game is very solid, reminding me of a young Phil Hubbard of Michigan fame. Definitely would love to see Iowa land him. Joe Hendricksen of the Suntimes considers him one of the more underrated juniors in Illinois.

As for not getting kids from Simeon....won't happen until it does. Do not tell Fran and Francis that it cannot be done. It can. He might even land back in Lincoln as Miles knows all about him.

Big game for Ed last night in win over very good Bogan team:Ed Morrow overcomes missed free throws in Simeon

Pipkins, the smallish pg for Bogan, is getting interest from Illinois....he is only 5'' 8'' but a dynamic player. I fear that Morrow will attract a lot of attention as he excels this year at a high profile school like Simeon. Also, Miles might gain traction as Nebby wins home games in front of an impressive sold out arena.

Pipeline already established by Hayden bringing Eddie Phillips to tote the rock in 1980.

There is nothing wrong with the west side. There are no stray bullets flying around at all hours. There are plenty of fine safe neighborhoods. If the family says stuff like that it is for other's "theatrical fantasy". There are plenty of good hardworking people trying to keep their neighborhoods safe. It is not a war zone, the only reason people live there is because it is cheap.
