As someone who really only has followed the hawkeyes and doesn't follow the rest of college basketball as much, what happened to the gophers? weren't they good the last couple of years.. Did they just lose a really good senior class or what because their nosedive is crazy

Pitino got by with tubbys recruits like the Hollins boys, elliot eliason, joey king and mo walker. He took them to the nit title and ever since those guys left he hasn't been able to backfill. His recruiting has been pretty awful.

I live in minnesota and my diehard gopher friends are completely apathetic towards gopher basketball it's sad. Reminds me of myself during the dark ages of the lickliter era although I still watched iowa play regularly. Tonight I was with a buddy who flew to Puerto Rico to watch the gophers bball this year and he didn't even know they were playing tonight. That's how bad it's gotten.

I saw a bathroom advertisement last weekend in a bar for 3 big ten game tickets for $45 total. It's sad but kind of deserved. They forced tubby out thinking they could do better but their facilities suck. The barn is a dump and their other facilities are a joke.

Gophers are a inexperienced team, King is the only senior. I know what the record says, but they are playing better than a month ago. Went to OT with Illinois, which beat Purdue and the game with Purdue was winnable at the end before a good defensive block by Purdue. I would bank on them being much better next year.

Keep in mind that Purdue was playing without one of their best players last night. How Purdue lost to Illinois I will never know, but they are terrible also. I get what you are saying, they have played some tough games. They played MSU fairly close and really gave Michigan a game in Ann Arbor.
