Drinks should be allowed in kinnick

Booze that is. Think about it, people know they can't drink in the stadium so what do they do? Just like me they slam 3 or 4 beers on the long walk to Nile's house. People get just as drunk anyway. If they sold 5 $ tall boys I would proly not slam those beers so hard because I know there will be cold ones waiting for me.

Drinks are allowed in the stadium, you just gotta sack up and spring for a luxury box. Don't hate cause you are poor.

With Iowa's anti-alcohol policy, I cannot see drinks being sold to the general masses inside Kinnick anytime soon. Not sure I would really want to either, as crazy as that feels coming out of my mouth. People are hopped up enough as it is and its not like people are not drinking inside that place. Almost everyone I know takes a flask in with them.

I wouldn't sit in a luxury box if i had Kirk's money. I would rather be right by the field everytime. Wind, rain, snow, heat, hail whatever you throw at me i dont care. You yuppies can have those fancy boxes.. ******* *******!!!

Used to be- not sure if it still does but NCAA ruels did not allow booze in stadiums owned by U's on U property. Reason some teams play in like the Rose Bowl.

That is not correct. I go to University of Houston games and they play in the on campus stadium. Beer is sold in the stadium.

But at Kinnick they could never do that. They would need 1000 police to keep order. But plenty of people have booze. Just count the empty miniatures in the mens bathrooms.

I remember when I went to Iowa in the 80's we could take boda bags in. Blackberry brandy tasted good in November

Brilliant, just brilliant!

Except those tall boys need to be priced at $10 to $15 a pop.

They also need to sell wine by the glass... this will help bring back the more sophisticated and more women to Kinnick at $10 to $20 per depending upon the vintage and year.

Imagine that Barry Garta's minions have just read this post and now licking there lips in anticipation of another revenue stream.

btw I'm serious and it might even reduce the binge drinking just outside of Kinnick the hour before kick off. Only with student discounts of course.

Used to be key phrase. Iowa looked at it in the 80's.

Is the stadium owned by the University?

It doesn't matter who own's the stadium. Alcohol could be allowed and the NCAA couldn't do anything. The NCAA only has rules on alcohol advertising not on sales. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to sell it in the suites even though it is a controlled environment.

The Sunday DMR had a big article on it. Listed the schools that currently allow it.

Its not gonna happen at Kinnick any time soon. They'll paint the water tower long before they sell beer.

Glad they don't allow it in Kinnick Stadium, but it seems like people see the game as just "something to do" while they're drunk rather than the other way around.

I beg to differ, WildTurkey.

I have been to many an NFL game in Arrowhead Stadium over the past 15 years. What you are prescribing is basically the NFL alcohol policy. The environment is MUCH worse (in terms of being a family environment) in an NFL stadium with that policy than it is in Kinnick with the current policy. There is no question.

Maybe others would like to chime in on that.

I think you are wrong in your assumptions. But then they came from someone whose screen name is WildTurkey...

Not a fan of selling alcohol at the games. Enough drunk idiots to contend with that we don't need to extend their buzz for a few more quarters. And you know the idiots I am referring to ... Unfortunately, a few can make it rough for everyone around them.
