It makes last season even more dissapointing. I think with Norm Parker we would have won the Big 10.

This year 4 defense and 2 offense.
Next year it will even up.
If High School seniors want to play top collage ball and get to the NFL, There is no better place than Iowa.

Agreed. Especially when you look at some of the teams we lost too. Northwestern and Minnesota both had ZERO players taken.

Losing Norm was bad, but some other Kronic issues also contributed to the team losing to teams with lesser talent. Same thing happened in 2005 when the team came into the season expecting to win and got derailed early.

It looks like we had six draft picks on three occasions in Iowa history. Two of those were 2010 and 2011. I would think that this would impress HS coaches and players who want a shot at the NFL. Iowa is a good place to go.

I think we have a shot to have even more next year….Iowa has become quite a talent factory. Even so when you are down to your 9th, 10th and 11th Lber I don’t care who you are it hurts. Same goes with having several OG injuries, that didn’t help the blitz pickup much at all.
Now on a positive note it will end up helping us a ton next year getting guys experience that otherwise wouldn’t have had much, but it sure hurt last year. I’m not one to ever blame injuries but it seems when we get them they are ALL at one or two positions and a bunch of them at that.

Iowa has now had a 1st round pick in 2 straight years. Could that turn into a bit of a streak? You have to think reiff could be a first rounder if he leaves early, and looking ahead to the following year maybe james morris, if he would choose to leave early.

I saw all of Iowa's losses in person last year, and it definitely hurt both the psyche and the wallet! However, I remain very optimistic about this year and future years.

Having said that, it is amazing that we lost five games with three of our four DL men getting drafted. It sure points out that the whole team matters. We got killed in the LB department, as teams really exploited that mismatch (in terms of passing) again and again.

Pelini probably didn't recruit many if any of those guys, but his staff did develop them the last 4 years. Safe to say hes got the program headed back to where the fan base wants it to be.

Of course, no one could ever accuse Cally and Co of not being pretty good recruiters though.

Yeah, NFL GMs are dying to add yet another fat, slow, unproductive Big 10 RB to the roster. For a league that claims to be a tough running league, you have like one top RB in the NFL...and he comes from like your shittiest team.

Ever stop to think that that may have a little something to do with the great offensive linemen that can be found in the Big Ten? Bet you'll find far more top-end offensive linemen in the NFL that come from the Big Ten. When you have players like that up front, you don't have to have an elite running back to have a very successful running game.

No, acctually, the thought is so defeatest and pathetic, that even as a non-Big 10 backer, I can't even say it.

"Yeah guys, sure our backs suck, but we can make them look good by using our good o-lines to run over those pathetic defenses."
